Toohill, Church Street. Mr and Mrs J. S. Tripe are visiting Wellington. Mr and Mrs Alan Jesson (Wellington) are the guests of Mr and Mrs G. Jesson. Mr and Mrs J. R. Berney are visiting relatives at Masterton for the holidays. Mr and Mrs F. Robinson and family, are on a visit to Christchurch. Mr and Mrs A. H. Miss Mitchell is on a visit to friends in Taranaki. Mrs E. Jones. Alfredton Road, is visiting her daughter, Mrs Che'w, Johnsonville. Mrs G. Utting, Stanley Street, is spending a holiday in North Auckland. Local soldiers who are home on Christmas leave are Privates S. Petersen, W. J. Reason, J. B. Worthington, and N. Liardet. Mr and Mrs V. Jesson, Wellington, are visiting the former’s parents, Mr' and Mrs Ci. Jesson.

Mr P. Payne returned home last Saturday, having completed his training at the Dannevirke military camp. Mr and Mrs M. Dysdale, Wanganui, are on a visit to the formers mother. Mrs J. Drysdale, Macara Street. Wet Christmas Eve. Christmas Eve was very unpleasant as far as the weather was concerned, rain falling heavily and there being a cold bleak wind. These conditions, however, did not keep the public flocking into the streets, and the shops were filled with snoppers. Shopkeepers stated that the Christmas trade was well up to past years.
