RONGOKOKAKO

. WOMEN’S INSTITUTE COMPETITION RESULTS AT MONTHLY MEETING. (“Times-Age” Special.) The monthly meeting of the Rongokokako Women's Institute was held recently, Mrs J. P. Sigvertsen presiding over a large attendance of members and visitors.

The meeting opened with the Ode. to Friendship and the Prayer for Peace. After the business of the meeting had been dealt with, the school children entertained those present with a programme of items which was thoroughly enjoyed. Much credit is due to their teacher, Mr Winter, for the splendid performance. Mr' Winter and children were accorded a hearty vote of thanks.

Competitions resulted as follows: — Paper hat made out of sheet of paper and one pin: Mrs Baucke. 1; Mrs H. Simpson, 2. Queen cakes: Mrs C-oggin. 1; Mrs Malton, 2. Best rose: Miss D. Nagel, 1; Mrs Nagel, 2. Best bloom: Mrs E. Morriss (iris), 1; Miss E. Sigvertsen (delphinium), 2. Mrs R. Farrow kindly consented to pack soldiers' parcels and send them away. The president wished all present a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. Hearty votes of thanks were accorded to Mrs Schorman for having judged the competitions and to Mesdames Smith and Baucke for the special prizes donated. An enjoyable afternoon tea was served by members of the Institute. The gathering closed with the singing of the National Anthem.
