ALFREDTON
WOMEN’S INSTITUTE COMPETITION WINNERS. ("Times-Age” Special.) There was a small attendance at the monthly meeting of the Women’s Institute, members generally being very busy as this period of the year. The president, Mrs. S. Edmonds, was in the chair, and the meeting was opened in the usual way. A letter was received from Mrs. L. Heckler in reply to the members expression of good wishes in connection with Mrs. Heckler's illness. Three soldier parcels are being dispatched this month. Opportunity was taken to further the arrangements for the district Christmas Tree. The competitions resulted: —The best hat from a sheet of paper and three pins resulted as follows: —Mrs. S. M. George. 1; Mrs. S. Edmonds, 2. Sultana loaf, Mrs. E. McLean, 1; Mrs. S. Edmonds, 2; Mrs. E. Seymour, 3. Christmas novelty costing Is. 6d.: —Mrs. McKay (book cover), 1; Mrs. Walker (coat hanger), 2; Mrs. E. McLean (evening bag), 3. Best bloom: Mrs. Dickens, 1; Mrs. E. Seymour, 2; Nirs. R. Low, 3. Members were asked to support the Patriotic Stall with contributions. The hostesses were Mrs. H. Burch and Mrs. E. McLean.
