FEATHERSTON

HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE MEETING ("Times-Age” Special.) At a meeting of the executive committee of the Featherston Horticultural Society, Mr A. C. Pearce presided. There were also present Mesdames Harkness, Lawson, Tutbury, R. Hardy, Arch. Clark. Ritchie. Hunter. Rea, Misses Goodrick. Eva Card, Viles, Wilkinson, Messrs Arch. Clark, C. Carter, C. H. Rea. Apologies for absence were received from Mesdames Charles, Bloxam, Yule, Wakely, Carter, Davis, Miss McTaggart. Mr Yule and the Rev R. S. Keenan. The resignations of Mr and Mrs C. H. Rea were accepted. The society decided to extend its thanks to Mesdames C. Carter. W. H. Booth. Moser, Hosking, Feast. Messrs Roberts. K. McKenzie, T. Hardy, Savage. W. H. Booth and C. Wilkinson. Miss Wilkinson was elected secretary till the annual meeting. The sum of £l4 was voted for patriotic purposes. It was decided that the annual meeting be held in July, the arrangements being left in the hands of Mesdames Arch. Clark, Lawson, Miss Wilkinson and Mr A. C. Pearce. A vote of thanks was passed to Mrs R. Hardy. After the meeting Mrs Arch. Clark entertained those present at supper.

Croquet Match. The following were the scores in the A grade croquet match, Haunui v Masterton, played on the Haunui green: Doubles: Mesdames Bassett and Finlayson beat Mrs Barry and Esma Card. 26/20; Mrs Donnelly and McGregor beat Miss Nix and Mrs Watson, 26/14. Singles: Mrs Bassett lost to Esma Card, 5/26; Mrs Finlayson beat Mrs Barry, 26/3; Mrs Donnelley lost to Miss Nix, 13/26; Mrs McGregor, lost to Mrs Watson, 9/26. A grade buttons: Mrs Barry and Miss Nix (holders) were defeated by Mesdames Donnelley and Finlayson by 26 to 17. Personal Items. While visiting Hastings recently Mr C. J. Nix had the misfortune to break one of his legs. Wedding. A wedding of local interest took place on December 7 at London, when Flying Officer John Roby Bloxam, of the Royal Air Force, only son of Mr and Mrs H. R. Bloxam, Featherston. was married to Elizabeth, younger daughter of Mr and Mrs John Thorpe, "Hill Top,” Bile Hill, London. Blood Transfusion. Those who are prepared to make a blood transfusion are requested to report to the Kelvin Hospital for a free test.
