IMPRESSIVE CEREMONY CHILDREN OF MARY SOCIETY. (“Times-Age” Special.) A very impressive ceremony took place in St. Terisa’s Church on Sunday evening when several young girls were received into Children of Mary Society. Prior to entering the church a procession took place round the church to the singing of hymns. Before the ceremony, the Rev. Father Devlin addressed the members on the objects and aims of the Society. The following girls carrying lighted candles appoached the altar to be received by Father Devlin as members: Mildred Rowles, Betty Elliot, June Card. Margaret Algie, Esma Algie, Monica Taylor, Esma Saba, Alma Lowell, and Myra Cole. The following aspirants were received into the Society: Doreen Cole, Shirley Jeffrey and Bernice Algie. ■
PATRIOTIC APPEAL DONATIONS ACKNOWLEDGED. The following additional donations are acknowledged:— Collections per Messrs R. W. Matthews, £7l 2s lOd; K. H. Allen, £2l 12s 6d; T. G. Hardie, £ll 12s 6d; J. H. King. £ll 5s 3d;_C. F. Buck, £9 15s; Bruce Donald, £8 8s: J. W. Holland. £7 14s; A. R. Robbins. £5 13s; R. R. P. Hardy, £1 2s. The total collections to date amount to £484 19s. Returns are yet to come from South Featherston and a balance from Tauherenikau. A box of soldiers’ comforts (balaclavas) from Mrs D. H. S. Riddifbrd, is also acknowledged. Personal Items. Flight-Mechanic Harry Edwards, who has been home on leave, left yesterday for Wigram. Mrs May and Mrs D. May, of Wellington, were guests of Mrs J. Mutter during the weekend.
