GREYTOWN

SWIMMING SPORTS SUCCESSFUL GATHERING. ("Times-Age" Special.) There was a good attendance of swimmers and spectators at the Greytewn baths last evening when the first of a series of carnivals was held. Several Carterton swimmers took part. Mr. I. Keltie acted as starter and the swimming judges were Messrs. W. Langford and J. Reid. Mr. I. Falcnor judged the diving. The admission was by silver coin, and the collection realised £1 10s. At a committee meeting held after the carnival it was reported that several members had climbed over the fence on Sunday evening and broken open the door so as to switch on the electric lights. The committee decided to warn the offenders, and also resolved that any further offender’ would be expelled from the club. It was pointed out by the chairman that the club was taking this action in order to safeguard the lives of young swimmers. The secretary of the Greytown Swimming Club acknowledges with thanks the following donations; W. A. Tate, £2 25.; J. Reid, £1 Is.; H. Trotman, senr, £l. Personal Items. Miss Joyce Gordon, of the Wellington Training College is the guest of Mrs. A. Johnson, Main Street. Mr. J. W. Herod, left the Greytown Hospital on Saturday. Mrs. E. Graham, of Levin, is on a short visit to Greytown and is the guest of Mrs. W. G. K. Wiggins, Kuratawhiti Street .
