HIGH COMMISSIONER
NEW FRENCH APPOINTMENT TO SYRIA. (By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright) CAIRO, December 8. According to French well-informed quarters, General Dentz, Commander of the Fifteenth Army Corps in the Marseilles district, has been appointed High Commissioner in Syria in succession to M. Chiappe, who lost his life when the plane in which he was travelling was shot down oil' Sardinia.
