AIRMAN’S DEATH
, STRUCK BY PLANE ABOUT TO LAND. ACCIDENT AT NEW PLYMOUTH. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, This Day. An airman pilot under training, Leading Aircraftman Maurice Sidney Best, of Bombay, Auckland, was killed instantly a few minutes after 11 o’clock yesterday morning when he was struck, by an aircraft approaching the aero-' drome at the Royal New Zealand Air Force Station, New Plymouth. Aircraftman Best was walking along the boundary of the aerodrome in company with another airman pilot under training when the aircraft, which had been engaged in training exercises, came in at a low altitude. He was apparently struck by a wheel of the aircraft and was killed instantly. The aircraft was slightly damaged, but neither the occupants nor the companion of deceased were injured. A Court of Inquiry is to be held. The next-of-kin is Mrs. A. Best, Bombay, Auckland.
