CLOTHING FOR HOMELESS
LADY GALWAY PATRIOTIC GUILD The recent window display signified the close of work for the year of the Lady Galway Patriotic Guild, and all quilts, clothing, etc., which were ready have been despatched to headquarters in Wellington. The display was illustrative of the splendid work which is being carried out by the ladies of the local branch of the guild, and the enormous quantity of materials handled is evidenced by the fact that 32 cases containing 5,525 articles have been sent forward. A large quantity of clothing, footwear and bed-covers has already reached London from New Zealand, and the High Commissioner has expressed his warm appreciation of the guild’s efforts, at the same time emphasising that the need now is greater than ever. It is to be hoped, therefore, that when work is resumed after the vacation the public will again come forward with materials and clothing suitable for the work of the guild.
