SOLDIER SOCIALS THREE PRESENTATIONS. ("Times-Age” Special.) A very enjoyable dance was held in the hall last Saturday evening, the occasion being a social tendered to Private K. Turner. Visitors were present from Masterton and the surrounding districts and a very pleasant time was spent. After the supper adjournment Mr S. Gray made a presentation to the guest of the evening of a leather money belt, and in doing so said that they were proud of the young men who had answered the nation’s call and he was confifidcnt that every one of them would do their duty. Mrs Foreman accepted on behalf of Observer Ned Atkinson, who was unable to be present, a money belt as a gift from his many friends in the district. Cheers were given for the two men, and the singing of “For They are Jolly Good Fellows’’ brought the gathering to a close. On Monday evening the friends of Private H. E. Frew met at "Lands End’’ and tendered him a social. There were about forty persons present and one and all entered wholeheartedly into the spirit of the gathering, a most enjoyable time resulting. hi making a presentation of a Rolls razor to Private Frew, Mr S. Gray referred to the esteem in which he was held by his many friends, all of whom .wished him good luck and a safe reI turn. Table tennis, dancing and games were played until the small hours of the morning, those present thoroughly enjoying themselves.
