The Governor-General and Lady Galway left Wellington yesterday for Palmerston North and Wanganui. Their excellencies will be in New Plymouth today and will return to Wellington tomorrow evening. Mr. G. Buxton Green, Timaru, has been elected president of the New Zealand Grain, Seed, and Produce Merchants’ Federation. Messrs C. Lemberg, J. Duffy. H. Constable (Wellington) and N. Letham (Napier) are among the guests staying at the Hotel Midland, Masterton. An very enjoyable time was spent at the residence of Mrs. Stewart, ■Ferndale,” Victoria Street, Masterton. when Privates P. Lee, P. Horn and W. Clement were entertained by their friends and presented with a gold cigarette case each. Mr. J. A. Moore is retiring from his position as principal of the Dunedin Training College after 30 years' service orf the staff. He was accorded a farewell by the students of the college, and was presented with a gold pocket watch, inscribed, and bearing the college crest.
