HOME NURSING CERTIFICATES PRESENTED. Mrs J. C. Bidwill, president of the Pahautea-Kahutara sub-centre of the Red Cross Society, entertained the members at her home and presented the certificates for home nursing to the winners. She congratulated the students on their success and said that she hoped they would continue their studies with the same success next year. Mrs Bidwill presented Mrs Pottinger with a token of appreciation from the members for her work as lecturer for the home nursing classes during the past year. Mrs Pottinger was also presented with a beautiful posy of flowers by Miss Collins.

CARD EVENING WINNERS AT PAHAUTEA. The winners of the prizes at the euchre party held at Pahautea on Saturday night were: ■ Ladies, Mrs Bargh 1, Mrs Hubbard 2; men, Mr Corlet 1, Mr McKay 2. Personal Items. Mr and Mrs Newman and Mrs and Miss Thwaites, Wellington, were weekend guests o- Mrs J. Juno. Leading Aircraftsman D. McKenna left yesterday for Auckland. Weekend Joint Stolen. During her absence from home'for a short while on Friday, someone entered the premises of a local resident and took the weekend joint and dish from the safe. The thief also stole vegetables from the garden as .well as destroying others. The theft is a particularly mean one. The resident’s husband is in camp.
