HOME GUARD FORMED ELECTION OF COMMITTEE. (“Times-Age” Special.) A meeting was held in the Memorial Hall on Wednesday evening for the purpose of forming a unit of the Home Guard, there being a large attendance. Mr G. Gillies presided and introduced Mr A. B. Martin, chairman of the Featherston County Council, who explained in detail the purpose and duties of the Home Guard. It was unanimously resolved that a unit of the Home Guard be formed. The following were elected a committee:— Messrs Gillies (chairman), Lovegrove (secretary), H. W. McMaster, P. Haligan, G. Sutherland, D. Leach, D. Warren, R. Trounson, P. Marshall, J. Carter. S. Mclntosh and J. Priest. Mr G. Sutherland was elected leader. Thirty-four members were enrolled at the meeting. On the motion of Mr Warren, seconded by Mr Haligan, a hearty vote of thanks was accorded Messrs Martin and Harding. Mr Martin thanked the meeting for the enthusiasm it had shown in the formation of the Guard. Horse Sports Club. A meeting of members of the Horse Sports Club will be held shortly for the purpose of winding up the affairs of the club. '
