MANGAPAKEHA

LAMBS & CALVES COMPETITION AT SCHOOL. 1 (“Times-Age” Special.) Parents and children gathered at the Mangapakeha School on Tuesday for the annual lamb and calf competition. Mr H. Cripps kindly acted as judge for the 12 lambs and 6 calves which were all shown in good condition. Books were given as prizes. Afternoon tea was served and a most enjoyable afternoon was spent. The prize winners were: Black face lamb: Peter Groves 1: Joan Douglas 2; Ellen Collerton 3. White face lamb: Peggy Laing 1; Alice Asplet 2; Jean Asplet 3. Calves, dairy type and rearing: Marion Douglas 1; Cathy Douglas 2; Barbara Atack 3.
