SOUTH FEATHERSTON
GARDEN PARTY PATRIOTIC FUND EFFORT. ’ (“Times-Age” Special.) The garden party held at South Featherston for patriotic funds was well attended in spite of the unfavourable weather. Competitions were won by the following: Mrs R. Jepsen (dinner), Alex Blain (tin of buiscuits), Mrs Lobb (Mrs Carter’s cake). The stall holders were: Produce, Mr and Mrs Stan Benton and Mesdames D. W. Burt and Graham; cakes, Mesdames G. Yule, H. R. Burt and A. Gain; jumble, Mesdames Riddiford and Williams and the Misses J. and F. Donald; sweets, Mesdames Wilton and Simmonds; ice cream, Messrs N. Wilton and N. Burt; flowers, Mrs Clark; hoopla, Messrs Wilton, Graham and Talbot; afternoon tea, Mesdames Willis, Jepsen, Blair and Blanford. The net receipts amounted to £7O 7s 6d. FAREWELL i PRESENTATION TO MRS FOSS. A pleasant afternoon was spent on Tuesday in the South Featherston Hall, when members of the Home and School Association met to farewell one of its members, Mrs Foss, who is leaving the district. The afternoon was spent in competitions and community singing. Mrs H. R. Burt sang two songs which were much appreciated. The competitions were won by Mrs H. R. Burt and Mrs Blanford. Mrs Clark presented Mrs Foss with a handbag and wished her every happiness in her new home. Mrs Foss suitably replied. Afternoon tea was served, the gathering being brought to a close by the singing of "Auld Lang Syne.” Personal. 1 Private Charles Jackson has returned to Picton after spending a few days at South Featherston.
