GLADSTONE
WOMEN’S INSTITUTE EXCELLENT GARDEN DISPLAY. ("Times-Age” Special.) The monthly meeting of the Gladstone Women's Institute was held in the Gladstone Hall yesterday afternoon. The president, Mrs F. W. Joblin, was in the chair and there was a large attendance of members. Mrs W. Bubb gave an interesting outline of the proceedings at the recent council meeting at Carterton. The gathering took the form of a garden display, and there was a splendid array of exhibits. A large number of plants were sold in aid of the soldiers’ parcel fund. Mrs Mills gave a demonstration of the manufacture of wool quilts, for which she was accorded a hearty vote of thanks. Mrs McKay served afternoon tea. Next month’s competitions will be for a Christmas novelty and a flower. Mrs H. Parker will have charge of the afternoon tea.
