MARTINBOROUGH

CENTENNIAL BATHS TO BE OPENED ON MONDAY. (“Times-Age” Special.) On Monday the official opening of the Centennial baths and camping ground at Considine Park, Martinborough, will take place, when, given fine weather, a record crowd of visit tors is anticipated. The baths are the culmination of a wholehearted district effort, the funds having been raised by a Queen Carnival and other social efforts and voluntary subscription, subsidised by the Wellington Education Board and the Government. Much of the work has been carried out by voluntary labour. The baths would be a credit to a much larger town than Martinborough. The camping ground has been roaded and laid out in sites, with a kitchen and conveniences provided for campers. The kitchen contains an electric stove, copper and tubs, sinks and tables. A paddling pool for small children has been nearly completed, while other amusements have been provided. In keeping with the generous spirit which prevails in Martinborough, an invitation is given to all residents of the Wairarapa to be present. Refreshments will be provided. After the opening ceremony a swimming programme will be carried out.
