Building of School Shed.
A scheme whereby the school will profit by the labours of the boys, and they themselves will benefit from tlie valuable practical training they will receive, lias been launcned al the Christchurch South Intermediate School, as the result of tlie initiative of one of the masters. Willi material supplied by the Canterbury Education Board, which has given its approval to the project, the boys of one form, under the direction of their teacher, are building a large shed. 25 feet by 10 feet, with concrete floor and weatherboard walls, for tlie storage of tools and other equipment. “H.M.S. Canterbury.”
The president of tlie Canterbury Navy League iMr T. M. Charters) has made a suggestion to the Admiralty in London that whilst so many new ships are being added to the Royal Navy it would be greatly appreciated if the Lords of the Admiralty would consent to name a ship after tlie province of Canterbury. Now Zealand. He has pointed out that there are already ships in tlie Navy bearing the names Auckland. Wellington. Dunedin, and Maori. He has also indicated that an increasing number of Canterbury men are going Home to serve witli tlie fleet.
