COSY THEATRE

“SUEZ.” The 20th Century-Fox’s spectacular “Suez” will be shown at the Cosy Theatre tonight. ’ The zobahhah, or devil-wind, is a desert hurricane of savage violence. Raging across the dunes, it whips up huge clouds of sand as it travels. The force of the blast changes the terrain miraculously, piling up mountains of sand where once were valleys, completely obliterating caravan routes and even wiping out many of the pitifully few oases. This ferocious wind was Nature’s greatest weapon of defense in the battle waged upon her by the amazing Ferdinand de Lcsseps, the man who literally tore continents apart to create the canal that has become the jugular vein of the world. Tyrone Power plays the remarkable role of de Lesseps. Loretta Young and Annabella share top honours with him in portraying the two loves that drove the French genius on to the completion of his great project. Twentieth Century-Fox’s famous Jones Family are now as well known to fllmgoers as the folks next-door. Jones Family fans remember from picture to picture the faces and personalities of the Chief of Police, of Mayor Dad Jones's councilmen, of the local butcher, banker and baker. Even the drug store cowboys in Dad’s establishment are becoming as familiar as Maryville’s Main Street and the Joneses’ front porch. “Safety in Numbers,” latest of the 20th Century-Fox series, is the associate picture, and introduces a new section of Maryville to Jonesites. Barton Springs, a suburb of the town, is discovered to be a spa of medicinal importance and the entire populace is aroused over the resort possibilities of the place.
