“DR. KILDARE’S STRANGE CASE.” When the latest “Dr. Kildare” film is shown tonight at the Regent Theatre, the audience is introduced to a picture of suspense, dramatic surprises and thrills in a hospital’s surgery room. There are no disappointments, for “Dr. Kildare’s Strange Case,” fourth of this increasingly popular series, contains all this —and more too. With Lew Ayres ( and Lionel Barrymore once more por- ' fraying the interne Dr Jimmy Kildare | and the great diagnostician, Dr. Leonard Gillespie, “Dr. Kildare’s Strange Case” revolves about the efforts of Ayres to help a surgeon friend, accused of having performed a bungled operation. Dramatic moments such as a bird’s-eye view of a delicate brain operation, plus the scientific handling of a madman in the convulsions of delirium, plus humorous moments such afi when Nat Pendleton him to be referred to as “Dr. Kildare” as often as he is called Lew Ayres. Still, he manages ( easily to inject whimsical touches that have made the Kildare character a lovable one. As the great diagnostician, Lionel Barrymore seems to be effortless in his acting. Laraine Day is again seen as Nurse Mary Lamont. Nat Pendleton and Marie lake supply the ’chief comedy moments. Shepperd Strudwick, noted New York stage actor, plays Dr. Lane. The supporting features are of brilliant quality and variety. The plans are at the shop of Messrs Steele and Bull (Nimmo’s) and the theatre.
