The Secretary of the Treasury, Mr Henry Morgenthau Junr.. has announced that the Treasury will soon ask Congress to permit the taxation of future issues of all classes of Government. securities and also will seek to elevation of the statutory limit of the national debt from 45.000.000,000 dollars to 60.000.000.000 or 65,000.000.000 dollars. Mr Morgenthau added that the debt at June .30. 1942. might aggregate 65.00,000.000 dollars. He declined io estimate governmental expenditures during the next four years, but said: "We have just begun to rearm.”
