Syron, dairy instructor, who is to be transferred to Dunedin. The health of the guest was drunk with musical honours, and he was the recipient of a travelling rug. In making the presentation, Mr W. Linton, manager of the Dalefield Dairy Factory, referred to the good work Mr Syron had done in connection with the dairy industry. Mr Linton welcomed the new instructor, Mr H. Foy, who had been in England during the past four years. The gathering terminated with the singing of '“Auld Lang Syne.” Airforceman Fred Hill was a visitor to Carterton on Saturday. Messrs Thomas and Alan Harp were visitors to Carterton at the weekend. The former is a school teacher at Kaikariki and the latter is a member of the Royal Air Force. Girl Guide Association. The annual meeting of the Girl Guide Association will be held in the Presbyterian Hall, Carterton, on Monday next, at 2.30 p.m. Caledonian Fair. Next Friday in the Bandroom, Carterton, St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church will hold a Caledonian Fair. The function will be oflicially opened by the Rev W. J. Couling at 11 a.m. Luncheon and afternoon tea will be provided at a nominal charge. A cooking competition will also be held. The entries will become the property of the Fair Committee and will be judged at 11.30 a.m.
