1 ATTACK ON KIEL
PRESSED RESOLUTELY BY BRITISH PLANES DAYLIGHT ATTACK OH OTHER PORTS. ENEMY ACTIVITY OVER BRITAIN DECLINES. Operations ever Germany on Sunday night were restricted by bad weather, a 8.8. C. broadcast states, but yesterday morning relays of British bombers made an attack on the enemy naval base of Kiel. In spite of heavy fire from the ground tire attack was maintained for an hour and a half. Daylight attacks were also made on Flushing and another port. From the whole of the operations two machines failed to return. There was not much enemy air activity over Britain yesterday. Few aircraft crossed the coast. The only bombs dropped fell in London and in a few widely separated places elsewhere. Machine-gunning by single enemy planes is reported in two Midland towns.
London had its 300th raid warning, but for the first time in 57 nights the warning was not followed by an alert.
BOMBING ATTACKS MADE IN DIFFICULT WEATHER. (British Official Wireless.) (Received This Day, 10.5 a.m.) RUGBY, November 4. “Objectives at Naples were again the target of aircraft of the R.A.F. Bomber Command last night, when successful attacks were made. Here and at Kiel the attacks were undertaken despite extremely difficult weather conditions. During daylight operations yesterday Flushing and an aerodrome at Soesterburg were attacked,” states an Air Ministry communique. ’’Two of our aircraft are missing.”
PERIOD OF QUIET EXPERIENCED IN LONDON. (British Official Wireless.) (Received This Day, 11.10 a.m.) RUGBY, November 4. Eondon has not heard an alert, giving warning of enemy air activity, until the close of the day, and thus has spent its longest period of freedom from siren wails since September 7. An Air Ministry and Ministry of Home Security communique issued tonight states that very few enemy aircraft crossed the coast today. Bombs have been dropped in the London area and at widely separated points in the Midlands and East Anglia, causing damage to a few houses. The pumber of people killed and injured was small.
