This was one of a number of machines operating singly and carrying out raids through low clouds. A few bombs were . dropped in l the southern part of the country but little damage was done. Two points were bombed in the London area. Nine enemy planes were shot down in Britain on Saturday and not a single British machine was lost. The British Government has decided to construct more deep air raid shelters, although a general system of deep shelters is not considered a practical possibility. The Minister of Home Security (Mr Herbert Morrison) stated that not over one in six Londoners were sleeping in public shelters. Eighty per cent of the people were sleeping in their houses, or in Anderson shelters. Measures are being taken to safeguard health in the shelters and a million and a quarter bunks are being installed.
