AFTER FORTY YEARS
——— MR A. H. EDDY RETIRES. PRESENTATION TO POST OFFICE OFFICIAL. The members of the Masterton Post Office staffs met yesterday afternoon at the Post Office to bid farewell to Mr A. H. Eddy, who has retired after 40 years’ service, 33 years of which has been spent in Masterton. The postmaster (Mr Simpson). in presenting Mr Eddy with a travelling rug. on behalf of the staffs, paid a warm tribute to the courtesy and ability of Mr Eddy as a Post Office official. After the slump Mr Eddy had acted as district employment officer for nine years, subsequently taking up his old duties at the Post Office. He wished Mr and Mrs Eddy long life and prosperity, and trusted that Mr Eddy would thoroughly enjoy his well-earned rest. The head officials in other branches spoke in a similar strain. Mr Eddy suitably replied.
