MR M. J. SYRON

ON TRANSFER TO DUNEDIN. A FAREWELL GATHERING. Members of the staff of the Department of Agriculture met yesterday to bid farewell to Mr M. J. Syron, of the Dairy Division of the Department. Mr Syron is under transfer on promotion and will leave the district within the next few days for Dunedin. Mr -McFarlane, on behalf of members. conveyed their congratulations to Mr Syron on his promotion, and wished him every success in his new duties in the south. During the eleven years in which he had been supervising the work of the cheese industry throughout the Wairarapa Mr Syron's associations with the local office had endeared him to them all and it was with feelings of regret that the time had arrived to bid him farewell. In asking Mi- Syron to accept a fountain pen as a very small token of their esteem, Mr McFarlane expressed the hope that he would find it a constant reminder of his many happy times among the Masterton officers. Messrs Dickie, Wilson, MacDonald, Armstrong and Davey endorsed Mr McFarlane's remarks. Mr Syron suitably acknowledged the presentation. The occasion was also taken to extend a welcome to Mr H. Foy. who is Mr Syron’s successor. Mr Foy has recently returned from England where he represented the Dairy Division of the Department at its London office.
