ST. ANDREW SOCIETY
PRESENTATION TO DANCING INSTRUCTRESS.
FINAL GATHERING ON SATURDAY
The Saint Andrew Society’s final dance practice of the 1940 season was held last evening, and took the form of a social evening, with supper provided by the ladies. The opportunity was taken of making a small presentation to Miss Margaret McLaren in grateful recognition of her successful efforts as dancing instructress. The presentation was made by Mrs Alan Graham on behalf of the class. Mrs Graham made a very appropriate little speech, and-Miss McLaren suitably responded. The Saint Andrew Society’s final monthly gathering of the season will take place in the Masonic Hall on Saturday evening next. The opportunity will be taken to celebrate Halloween, which actually falls on October 31. Consequently, instead of the usual concert programme, the earlier part of the evening will provide special entertainment for juveniles. Miss Pat Ramsay, with a team of younger members, is making every effort to make this part of the gathering a huge success. On this occasion, admission to the gathering will not be confined to members and their invited guests. Honorary members will be admitted at the following charges: Gentlemen, 3s, ladies 2s 6d, juveniles (under 16), Is. The Scottish children who recently arrived in the district, and the Wairarapa College Pipe Band, have been invited to the gathering as guests of the society, and members of the forces, in uniform, are also invited to attend free of charge.
