On the occasion of the recent signature of a military agreement between Britain and Czechoslovakia, Dr. Benes (President of Czechoslovakia) despatched the following telegram:—“On the occasion of the signature of this' agreement, I welcome the opportunity to express to your Majesty sincere thanks for this proof of the active sympathies of the United Kingdom. This further act of Allied co-operation will meet with great satisfaction in my sad and afflicted country, whose people it will encourage to redouble their opposition to German tyranny. Czechoslovak soldiers and airmen will be proud as a result of this agreement, to be more closely associated with their i brothers in arms, whose dauntless exploits today arouse the admiration of the civilised world.” His Majesty replied: “I much appreciate your Excellency's message. I and my peoples in this country and overseas have watched with admiration the stubborn resistance offered by you and the Slovak peoples to German oppression, and we are proud to have your brave soldiers and airmen on our side in defence of this country, and ih the cause of liberty in Czechoslovakia and throughout Europe.”
