FLOODS AT AHIKOUKA WATER ACROSS. ROAD. (“Times-Age” Special.) The Waiohine River was in high flood last night and about 6 o’clock this morning the water was across the road opposite Mr McKenzie’s property. There was a considerable quantity of water in the back paddocks at Mr J. C. Feast’s farm. POST OFFICE HOLIDAY ARRANGEMENTS. The Post Office will be closed next Monday (Labour Day) in all branches except the Telephone Exchange, which will be open continuously. Rural delivery and postmen's deliveries will be suspended. The public counter will be open from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Saturday. October 26, for telegraph and telephone business, also for the sale of stamps and the delivery of all classes of correspondence. No mails will be closed on Monday, but a mail for Palmerston North, Masterton and Wellington, will be closed at 8 p.m. on Saturday. The public is notified that street posting boxes will not be cleared on Monday. An additional clearance of boxes will be made on Saturday, at 7.30 p.m. Motor Collision. A car driven by Sappei’ Henry Harrison collided with a stationary car near the entrance to the Greytown Hospital last evening. Both cars were damaged but the driver was not hurt. Euchre Party. A most enjoyable euchre party was held at Mr Tui Morgan’s residence on Monday evening when prizes donated by Mrs Bensemen were won as follows: Ladies, Miss Hill; men, Mr Best; hidden number, Mr Martin Hobson; consolation prizes, Mrs Best, Mr Ralph Day. The aggregate prizes for the past month were won by Mrs M. Bouzaid (ladies) and Mr McLeod (men). The prizes were given by Mesdames Keltie and Parker. A hidden number aggregate for a prize given by Mr Gregor was won by Miss Hill. Supper was served by the ladies. The proceeds amounted to £2 5s which will be donated to the Christmas Cheei' Fund for the inmates of Buchanan Home. Mr and Mrs Morgan have offered to run a series of euchre parties for this fund.
