YOUNG FARMERS

MARTINBOROUGH CLUB. FAT LAMB & MEAT TRADE. (“Times-Age” Special.) The monthly meeting of the Martinborough Young Farmers’ Club was held in the Odd Fellows’ Hall on Friday, Mr Welch being in the chair. There was an attendance of 12 members. It was decided to ask Mr W. B. Martin if he would judge the essays for the essay competition. Interesting lectures were given by Mr Scott and Mr Corskie on “Fat Lamb Breeding" and “The Distribution of Meat in Britain.” The chairman proposed a hearty vote of thanks to the speakers, which was carried by acclamation. Supper was provided by members. ALFREDTON. ADDRESS ON BOOKKEEPING. (“Times-Age” Special.) The Alfredton Young Farmers’ Club held its October meeting in the Alfredton Hall, there being a fair attendance of members. Mr O. Walton gave an interesting and instructive address on farm bookkeeping and the making up of income tax returns. Mr Walton stressed the importance of farmers keeping a full set of books and outlined to members the method of keeping them. Mr A. Algie moved a hearty vote of thanks to Mr Walton for his address. Supper concluded the meeting.
