MARTINBOROUGH
BOROUGH AFFAIRS MEETING OF COUNCIL. (“Times-Age” Special.) The monthly meeting of the Martin-: borough Borough Council was held last night, the Mayor, Mr C. W. Skill, presiding. There were also present Councillors M. N. Hardie, W, Corfield, G. B. Cotter, E. J. Green, C. A. Hamilton and D. Plummer. The National Service Department wrote forwarding conditions of employfneiTt„pf subsidised men. The clerk was instructed to write accepting the conditions. The officer commanding the Territorial force thanked the council for its offer of the football ground for use as a Territorial camp and stating that the land was not required at present. The Department of Health advised the conditions for the chlorination of the swimming baths. It was agreed to follow the usual course in declaring a half-holiday on Peoples’ Day of the Wairarapa Show. The Red Cross Society advised that it had declined the offer of Mr John Moore, of Invercargill, of a section in Martinborough for a raffle. The Martinborough Patriotic Committee wrote regarding the collection of non-ferrous metals and asking for a date to be fixed. The date is to be notified later. The ranger reported having dealt with 14 head of stock. A meeting of representatives of the Swimming Club and of the Borough and County councils is to be held tonight to consider various matters relating to the baths.
