GOLF SEASON CLOSED AT WEEKEND. (“Times-Age” Special.) The official closing of the golf season look place at the weekend under delightful weather conditions. The fourball competition was won by Miss Joan Feast and Mr H. W. Feast. The competition results were as follow: — Men's driving: Ray Ingley, 1; W. Pope, 2; A. Lane, 3. Approaching: J. C. Feast, 1; T. R. Ingley and K. Nix tied for second place. Putting: E. Maddison, 1; F. C. Bunny. H. Bull, K. Nix, and Ray Ingley tied for second place. Ladies' putting: Seniors, Miss Nix and Mrs Ware tied for first place. Juniors, Mrs Kiernan, 1; Mrs Nicholson, 2. Approaching: Seniors, Mrs R. Ingley. 1; Mrs Ward, 2. Juniors, Mrs Pope, 1; Mrs G. Ingley, 2. Driving: Seniors, Miss Nix, 1; Mrs McPhee, 2. Juniors, Mrs Pope, 1; Miss McPhee, 2. Owing to the exceptional growth of the. grass the links have been closed for play. The presentation of the trophies will take place at a social to be held later. WOMEN’S ' DIVISION ANNUAL PARTY. The annual party of the Greytown branch of the Women’s Division of the Farmers’ Union was held in the Morison’s Bush Hall on Thursday evening. Mrs Beau, president of the branch, extended a hearty welcome to the large crowd present. Mrs Beu stated that this was the first occasion that the party had. been held in the Morison s Bush Hall, and judging by the large attendance the move was a most popular one. The time was spent in competitions, dancing, cards and singing. The menu competition was won by Mrs S. C. Shedden. Mr C. Jensen, Mrs Wood Senr., and Mrs Bensemen won the euchre prizes. Mrs H. Farley sang two songs accompanied by Mrs H. G. Carter, and Mr Kay, of Carterton, rendered several songs, playing his own accompaniment on the steel guitar. The music for the dancing was supplied by Messrs S. Te Tau and L. Daysh. Extras were played by Mesdames H. G. Carter, T. R. Ingley, and Mr R. Ingley. Mr F. Snell acted as M.C. The Greytown Girl Guides gave a splendid ballet in costume and also repeated their play, "Wanted a Cook.” Miss Joan Bouzaid and Mr W. Brown gave an exhibition of tap dancing, Miss Betty Shedden being at the piano. A most delightful gathering closed with the singing of “Auld Lang Syne” and the National Anthem. Persona! Items. Mr E. Skeet was admitted to the Greytown Hospital on Saturday where he is to undergo treatment. The Rev. Canon Davies, Vicar of St. Paul’s Church, Wellington, will be the preacher at St. Luke’s Patronal Festival on Thursday evening. Miniature Rifle Club. The Greyt'own Miniature Rifle Club will close,the season tonight. Croquet. A number of games were played on the Memorial Park greens on Saturday. The prospects for this season are bright as several new members have joined the club.
