GIFTS FOR SOLDIERS LOCAL ACTIVITIES. (“Times-Age” Special.) The final meeting to provide Christmas gifts for local soldiers overseas was held in the Red Cross Rooms yesterday. The sum of £33 19s was collected and the expenses were £29 9s lOd. It was decided to spend the balance in papers and periodicals to be sent overseas. Mrs Carlyon, on behalf of the parents of the soldiers, thanked those who had helped in any way to provide extra comforts for the soldiers. Wairarapa Lake Opened. After having been closed for several weeks the Wairarapa Lake was opened yesterday. Land & Property Sales.
During the last few w’eeks there has been a mild boom in property sales in Featherston. Two 5-roomed houses have changed hands as well as several sections.
