RED STAR FOOTBALL CLUB
MEETING OF COMMITTEE. MANY MEMBERS JOIN N.Z. FORCES The final meeting of the season of the executive committee of the Red Star Football Club was held last night at the residence of Mr and Mrs S. Henson, Macara Street, Mr R. Milne being in the chair. Various matters concerning the club were discussed. It was reported that twelve members of the club had already volunteered. for service with the New Zea-, land forces and were either in camp oi’ serving overseas, while others were due to go into camp shortly. Members of the club when on final leave in Masterton are to be entertained at a social. Among those who went into camp today was the secretary, Mr. B. Howard. At the meeting last night .his resignation was received with regret, and the best wishes of the club were extended to him in connection with his military duties. The chairman referred to the excellent service which Mr Howard had rendered the club as secretary during the past year, and to his ability as a player over some seasons. Mr Howard suitably replied. Il was reported that the club had completed the season with a substantial credit balance. It was stated by members that it was gratifying to find that the vice-presi-dents had, during the season, taken a very keen interest in the affairs of the club and had attended meetings of the committee. Supper was provided by Mr and Mrs Henson, who were accorded a hearty, vote of thanks in connection therewith.
