GIRL GUIDES AN ENJOYABLE CONCERT. (“Times-Age” Special.) The Greytown. Girl Guides presented a very enjoyable concert in the Scout and Guide Hall on Friday evening. The hall was filled by a very appreciative audience. Mrs G. R. Jury (Guide Captain) deserves great credit for her organisation work as all the items were exceptionally well performed. Mrs Jury was assisted by Mrs V. Kempton and Miss Beth Saywell. Miss Keddell put in considerable time assisting the girls who took part in the plays. The programme was as follows: — Opening chorus, "God Save the King”, “There'll Always be an England”, “Be a Good Guide” sung by the company; two Maori songs sung by Kuini Matthews; ' Japanese playlet by Denise Eager, Nora Brooks and Hazel Farrell; Spanish dance by Patricia and Lorraine Sugrue; two recitations by Hughla McPhee; Highland fling. Effie Dennes and Fae Ross; Hawaiian scene, two songs “Ebb Tide” and “Yaka Hula Dickey DuJa” sung by Daphne and Kathleen Bouzaid; ballet (dance), by Patricia Sugrue and troupe of girls, those taking part being Mary Carter, Gwen Reid, Betty Burch, Joyce Robinson, Annie Connelly and Hughla McPhee; songs, “Over the Rainbow”, "Lights of London” sung by Kuini Matthews; playlet, “Peach Pie” by Effie Dennes and Fae Ross; pianoforte march, by Mrs H. Carter (piano), Mr E. Haigh (bass viol) and Mr A. Carter (piano (accordian); Gipsy scene, Joyce Robinson, Jean Bennett, Margaret O’Neil, - Ray Humphries, and Nancy Jackson, singing “Just like a Gipsy” and “After the'Dawn”; Kuini Matthewsang “South of the Border” accompanied by Joyce Robinson and Jean Bennett with mouth organs; club swinging exhibition by Hughla McPhee, Annie Connelly, Mary Carter and Betty Burch; tap dance, Patricia Sugrue (impersonating Charlie Chaplin); skipping drill, Royce Drysdale, Zita McNamara and Hazel Laird; recitation. Miss Keddell; a play “Wanted a Cook’,'' was very well acted by all who took part. Patricia Sugrue in the leading role showed conspicuous ability; the other members were Fae Humphry. Gwen Reid, Kathleen Bouzaid and Ray Humphries; finale items, “Kiss Me Goodnight”, “Wish Me luck”, “Now is the Hour” sung by full company. Mrs G. R. Jury thanked the orchestra, Mrs H. G. Carter (piano), Mr E. Haigh (bass viol) and Mr A. Carter (piano accordion), Miss Keddell and Mrs Stevens for acting as door-keep-ers, and all those who had helped in any way. Little Royce Drysdale made a very efficient announcer, being dressed as a page boy. The concert was a great success
GOLF i PRESIDENT’S TROPHY. The final round of .the president’s trophy was play on Saturday afternoon. Mrs Gregor and Eric Williams headed the field with a net 67. These two players will play off with Mrs Nicholson and H. Bull, who registered a 67 a fortnight ago in the first round. The following are the detailed results: Mrs Gregor and E.
