CONCERT IN PARK

PROGRAMME BY MUNICIPAL BAND. A large attendance of the public heard a splendid concert played by the Municipal Band in the beautiful surroundings of Masterton Park yesterday afternoon. The programme was a varied and interesting one, and included marches, an overture, waltzes and hymns, all the items being rendered with artistry. Many favourable comments on the band’s performance were passed. After the programme, the presentation of a cigarette case was made to Bandsman W. Prescott, as a token of appreciation of his services, prior to his entering camp with the Fourth Reinforcements. Mr Prescott suitably responded. In view of the position which has arisen owing to men being called up for military training any old members of the band who feel young enough to return and help the band are asked to communicate with the secretary. Mr B. Rickards, or the conductor, Mr "G. Hutchinson (telephone No. 1447).
