AIR RAID VICTIMS LOCAL APPEAL LAUNCHED. (“Times-Age” Special.) The Mayor, Mr ,W. Simpson, has launched an appeal in aid of the victims of the London air raids. A subscription list has been opened at the Borough Office and all subscriptions will be gratefully acknowledged by Mr B. Dinnan, Town Clerk. It is felt that the citizens of Eketahuna will make a generous response. The following donations have already been received: —Wolf Cubs, 10s; Cubmaster, 10s; W. Simpson, £5; C. Buckeridge, 10s; Bush-Pahiatua Branch N.Z.E.1., per Mr W. J. Henderson, £lO. WOMEN’S DIVISION MONTHLY MEETING. At the monthly meeting of the Eketahuna branch of the Women’s Division of the New Zealand Farmers’ Union, Mrs Welch presided over a good attendance of members. The meeting was opened by the singing of the National A.nthem, followed by the Creed. In a circular from headquarters the branch was asked to join in the prayers for peace each day, and to contribute to the funds for a fighting plane. It was decided that donations be sent by Mrs Welch to headquarters at the end of the month. Mrs McAnulty gave a most interesting demonstration on spinning. Many knitted garments from spun wool were shown to members present. Miss M. Anderson carded the wool, aided by several members. On the motion of Mrs George a hearty vote of thanks was passed to the demonstrators. A “bring and buy” stall is to be held for the purpose of raising funds for the Makogai Leper Fund. Afternoon tea was served and the singing of the National Anthem brought the meeting to a close. Personal Items. Mrs Martelli, Wellington, is visiting her mother, Mrs E. Albrechtsen, Hastwell Street. In the report of the local ladies’ .Fighting Services Committee card party, the names of Mr and Mrs Christie were inadvertably omitted from the list of prizewinners.
