SOCIAL EVENING

COURSING CLUB GATHERING. PRESENTATION TO MR LEETE. A pleasant gathering was held at the residence of Mr and Mrs Geary, Masterton, last night, when members of the Wairarapa Coursing Club assembled to honour Mr D. E. Leete, who is shortly to enter camp with the Fourth Reinforcements. The president, Mr J. Bradbury, presided. In making a suitable presentation to Mr Leete on behalf of the club, Mr Geary paid tribute to the work put in by Mr Leete in connection with the training of the hares. Although he was not a dog owner, Mr Leete had rendered valuable services behind the scene. Mr J. H. Payton, a vice-president of the club also spoke briefly and endorsed the previous speaker’s remarks. He commended the action of men entering camp. Dancing passed away the greater part of the evening and the singing of “Auld Lang Syne” brought a pleasant function to a close.
