INTO THE WAIOURU FIRE. PROMISED BY PRIME MINISTER (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, This-Day. A statement that if anything in the nature of sabotage was proved in connection with the fire at the Waiouru Camp those responsible would be dealt with in the most vigorous fashion was made by the Prime Minister, Mr Fraser, yesterday. “The matter will be thoroughly investigated,” the Prime Minister said, “and no effort will be spared to discover the cause of the fire. I suspend any judgment in the case till the facts have been thoroughly investigated, and the inquiry, which is already under way, and which wil be carried out in the most efficient manner, is completed.
“Obviously the loss of the building will be a handicap, but steps will be taken immediately to replace it. There will be no delay whatever. Such adverse happenings will not be allowed to interfere to any considerable extent with New Zealand’s war effort.”
