CHARITY BALL

OUTSTANDING SOCIAL EVENT. TO BE HELD ON SEPTEMBER 4. There are now only six days to one of the most outstanding social events of the year —the Charity Ball. The function "will take place in the Masterton Municipal Hall on Wednesday, September 4. The debutantes will be presented to his Grace, Archbishop O’Shea, who will be met by a reception committee including Messrs F. Corry, J. Jameson. D. B. Curry, J. W. Card (Mayor of Featherston), E. C. White, J. Savage and L. Robinson.

Miss H. Card, Mayoress of Featherston, and Mrs A. R. Bunny, Masterton, will be Matrons-of-Honour. As was the case last year proceedings will be kept moving in an enjoyable manner under the control of the M’s.C., Messrs B. Iveson, J. J. Hunter and W. C. Orange.

The music will be supplied by Pool’s Blue River Dance Band and Jack Barnes’s Rhythm Boys. The hall decorations promise to be one of the outstanding features of the ball and the supper arrangements are in the hands of a large and efficient committee.

The ball committee, and in particular the secretary, Miss M. Diggins, are working hard for the success of the ball, and all that is required now is the patronage of the public. The proceeds will be equally divided between the Patriotic Fund and the St. Vincent de Paul Society.
