GREYTOWN

BOWLING CLUB ANNUAL MEETING. (“Times-Age” Special.) At the 37th annual meeting of the Greytown Bowling Club the president. Mr W. Kilgour, occupied the chair. There was a good attendance of members. The members stood in silence for a few moments out of respect to the memory of the, late Mr R. G. Vile, who had been a member for many years. The annual report stated that for the first time in its history the club had shared equal honours in the Booth Cup. The Wairarapa New Year Tournament was again won by this club. The club still holds the Grady Medals and Centre Fours. The balance sheet showed that the mortgage had been liquidated as well as the bank overdraft. The silver cup presented by Mr H. Trotman was won by Mr C. W. Brown, and the medal for runner-up, donated by Mr H. Walden, was won by W. Kilgour. The president expressed the thanks of the club to Messrs F. Dennes, J. Burden, W. Higgison and T. Connolly for the voluntary work they had carried out during the winter. The following new members were elected: Messrs H. McPhee, W. Compton, E. Skeet, H. R. Feast, J. C. Feast, H. W. Feast, J. Reed, J. Stringfellow and the Rev Knowles Smith. The following officers were elected for the ensuing year:—Patron, Mr W. H. Day (re-elected); president, Mr T. Connolly; vice-presidents, Messrs G. Burns and S. Shedden; delegates to the Wairarapa Bowling Centre, Messrs T. Connolly, N. S. McLeod and H. G. Carter; selector, Mr P. Kenning (reelected); match committee, Messrs W. Kilgour, G. Burns and F. Dennes; treasurer, Mr N. S. McLeod (re-elected); secretary, Mr H. J. Nightingale (reelected); green supervisor, Mr T. Connolly; general committee, Messrs W. Kilgour, P. Kenning, G. Brunton, L. Curtis, J. Burden; auditor, Mr J. Kiernan.

The Centre delegates were instructed to vote for the Booth Cup and Shield competitions being the same as last year. Mr Curtis offered to donate an honours board and he was accorded a hearty vote of thanks. 4 A vote of thanks to the Working Men’s Club and the Press' concluded the meeting.

MEDAL COMPETITION. I The following is the draw for the first round of the medal competition for a trophy donated by Mr L. Curtis: •J. C. Feast v B. Kiernan; E. Maddison v H. W. Feast; H. R. Feast v F. C. Gunny; T. Nelson v T. R. Ingley; T. Gold v Ray Ingley; H. Bull v N. S. McLeod; A. Carter v W. Pope; A. Lane v E. Williams; W. Tully v A. Rhodes; G. Brunton v S. Shedden; A. Oakey v G. Te Whaiti; K. Nix v W. S. Brice; L. Mead v I. Te Whaiti; A. G. Peterson v A. Stuart; W. Brown v W. Everett; C. Burch v G. Robinson; A. B. Dunnet v R. Eccles.

The final for the championships will be played on Sunday commencing at 9.45. The draw is:—Seniors, E. Maddison v J. C. Feast; juniors, S. Shedden v G. Te Whaiti. The semi-finals of the ladies’ championships will be played at Greytown on Saturday. The draw is as follows:—' Senior, Mrs Thompson v Mrs Jury (commencing at 12.25 p.m.); Mrs McPhee v Miss Nix (12.28); intermediate, Miss Booth v Mrs R. Ingley (12.31); Mrs C. Ingley v Miss J. Feast (12.34); junior (final round), Mrs Nicholson v Miss B. McPhee (12.37).

The following is the draw for the. third round of the Keltic Buttons:— Miss R. Collier v Miss M. Collier (12.37); Miss M. Skeet v Mrs Gregor (1-2.40); Miss P. Tully v Miss M. Wood (12.43); Mrs Huntley v Miss B. Gregor (12.46); Miss M. Eccles v Miss Ellmers (12.49); Mrs G. Ingley v Miss Higginson (12.52); Miss E. Gregor v Miss E. Feast (12.55); Mrs Maddison v Mrs Gold (12.58). The following will play nine holes commencing at No 7: —Mrs Stuart v Mrs Dunnet (12.25); Mrs Clark v Miss Reading (12.28); Mrs Wiggins v Mrs Stevens (12.31); Mrs Nisbet v Miss A.
