BOMBING OF CHUNGKING
RESUMED BY JAPANESE. EVACUATION OF CIVILIANS CONSIDERED. (By Telegraph—Press Association —Copyright* (Received This; Day, 10.5 a.m.) LONDON, August 23. The Associated Press of Great Britain reports that the Japanese have resumed the heavy bombing of Chungking. The Government is considering the compulsory evacuation of civilians, except high officials and those directly serving war needs. Voluntary departures are being speeded up and the reconstruction of destroyed homos and shops is forbidden.
