TO APPEAL FROM NOUMEA. STATEMENT BY AUSTRALIAN MINISTER. ißy Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright 1 (Received This Day, 9 a.m.) SYDNEY. This Day. Replying to an appeal for help from the French colony of Noumea, the Minister of External Affairs, Mr J. McEwen, in a statement, declared that Australia was intensely interested in the economic welfare of New Caledonia and was making arrangements for closer liaison by the despatch of a Government representative. Australia was also considering a request for the establishment of an Australian bank in that colony.
