CHARITY BALL

TO BE HELD ON SEPTEMBER 4. Regarded as one of the most prominent social functions of the year, the Charily Ball which will be held in the Municipal Hall, Masterton, on Wednesday, Septembei' 4, is expected to reach the high standard set in recent years. The work of the St Vincent de Paul Society in relieving distress which exists in the Wairarapa is carried on quietly and efficiently, following on the general policy of the society. For that reason alone the ball is always largely attended by the people of the Wairarapa and districts further afield. No effort is being spared by the committee to ensure that patrons will thoroughly enjoy themselves. The names of several debutantes have been received and the usual brilliant scene when the young ladies are presented to Archbishop O’Shea and other dignataries of the church should be witnessed again this year. The music will be supplied by Frank Pool’s Blue River Dance Band and Jack Barnes’s Rhythm Boys.
