DAIRY COMPANY SHAREHOLDERS’ ANNUAL MEETING. (“Times-Age” Special.) The annual meeting of shareholders of the Pirinoa Co-operative Dairy Company was held on Monday. The chairman of directors (Mr D. S. Warpresiding. The annual report stated: —The output of cheese for the season was 98 tons 2481b5., being an increase on the previous year of 7.3 tons. In respect of the previous year, the estimated season average pay-out per pound for butterfat (all grades) which was quoted in the report was 17.757 d, and the actual average payout finally made was 17.748 d. In respect of’ the current year, cheese in store for export had been valued at the guaranteed price according to grade, and cheese in stock at 7d per pound. The estimated season’s average payout per pound butterfat (all grades) which should result therefrom was 17.397 d. The directors did not recommend the payment of any dividend on share capital. The retiring directors were Messrs W. T. Hume and F. Busch, who were eligible for re-election and Mr L. H. Smart was eligible for re-appointment to the position of auditor. The report was signed for the directors by the chairman (Mr D. S. Warren). The directors for the ensuing year are: Messrs D. Warren (chairman). G. J. Gillies, F. Busch, W. T. Hume, D. L. Bell and J. McDonald. PATRIOTIC COMMITTEE FURTHER EFFORT ARRANGED. The local Patriotic Committee me' on Monday evening. Mr P. Macdonald presided. The secretary reported that the recent appeal for the Red Cross funds produced the sum of £2B which had been paid to the fund. A donation of £1 Is was received from the Kohunui Mutual Improvement Association and the secretary was instructed to thank the donors. The action of the secretary in purchasing three wristlet watches for the local members of the Third Echelon for presentation at the recent ball was endorsed.
It was decided to hold a euchre and dance to raise further funds on Saturday. August 17. A local orchestra was engaged to supply the music for the dance. The produce stall will be in charge of Mrs Mclntosh, while the charges for admission will be the same as on previous occasions. Lower Valley Co. The annual meeting of the Lowe! Valley Dairy Company will be held on Monday next. Church Service. The Rev. H. Taepa, of Masterton conducted a Church of England service
in the Kohunui Meeting House or Sunday. There was a large attendance This is the first occasion for some year? that an Anglican service has been hole in this Meeting House. It is proposed to hold monthly services.in future. Dairy Season. The local cheese factory commences the season’s operations on Saturday. Thick Fog. A thick fog enveloped this district for some hours yesterday morning. Influenza Prevalent. Influenza is most prevalent in this district and several residents are laid aside with the malady. Personal. Miss Lemon, who has been staving with her sister, has returned to Wanganui. Mr J. Bragg, who is in the Masterton Hospital, is making good progress. Miss Sexton, who has been visiting relatives here has returned to Napier. Mr and Mrs P. Macdonald Junr. have left the district to live in Masterton where Mr Macdonald will manage c farm.
Nurse Aitchison, Wellington Hospital. is the guest of her sister, Mrs Bird Mr G. J. Gillies is visiting the South Island.
Mr Waaka Enoka has entered the Greytown Hospital for treatment. Mrs M. Te Aroatua is visiting relatives in Wanganui.
Mr and Mrs A. Hodder and family have left to reside at the Upper Hutt. Mr Hodder will take up the managership of a farm in that locality.
