NAMED BY THE KING AS DAY OF NATIONAL PRAYER. RESPONSE IN BRITAIN. (By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright i (Received This Day. 1.15 p.m.) LONDON. August 14. It is officially announced that his Majesty the King desires September 8. the first Sunday after the anniversary of the outbreak of war. to be observed as a day of national prayer. The Archbishop of Canterbury, in a statement, said the desire would find ready response in the hearts of the people. Cardinal Hinsiey has directed on September 3 an exposition of the Blessed Sacrament in every church and chapel in Britain; also a general communion. Cardinal Hinsiey said: "We Catholic liegemen respond wholeheartedly io his Majesty’s expressed wish." .
