WOMEN’S INSTITUTE

MONTHLY MEETING. The monthly' meeting of the Martinborough branch of the Women’s Institute was held yesterday when Mrs Jolly presided over a good attendance of members. A demonstration of glove making was. given by Mrs Boyd, and a general talk on knitting produced many useful suggestions. Some essays on “What Husbands think of the Women’s Institute,” created much amusement, and next month written opinions are to be given on “The Characteristics and Qualifications a good President Should Possess.” The mpnthly competition —a plate of savouries— by Mrs Boyd. Bible Class Social. There was a large attendance last evening at St. Andrew’s Bible Class Social, and a happy time was spent in dancing and games etc. Miss P. Trounce and C. Munn won the Monte Carlo waltz, and Miss L. McCardle and E. Theobald the lucky spot.
