GOLF TOURNEY IN AID OF PATRIOTIC FUND. (“Times-Age” Special.) A very successful tournament was held on the Tyneside links on Sunday the occasion being an effort by the combined Te Wharau and Tyneside Golf Clubs to raise funds for patriotic purposes. The tourney had been set down for July 7 but owing to adverse weather conditions it had to be postponed. The members of the committee were very satisfied with the result as they are able to hand over between £9 and £lO to the Masterton Country Districts Red Cross Society. The medal round for ladies was won by Mrs J. Bannister with a net score of 69. She also halved the stableford with Miss N. Bannister with 34. D. E. Williams's 61 won the men's medal round, and C. Torr and O. Williams halved the stableford with 37. The box of golf balls generously donated by Mr A. Donald, of Masterton. was won by N. Foreman. Trophies for the tourney were donated by Mrs A. McGregor. Mrs Nitz and Messrs AV. Bannister and S. Gray. The thanks of the committee are extended to the ladies who provided the morning and afternoon tea. INTER-CLUB MATCH. On August 11 the members of the Wainui-o-ru Club will visit Te Wharau and play a return match with the local club which will also be a Donald Cup contest. Play will commence at 10 a.m. sharp.
