FEATHERSTON

LADY GALWAY GUILD LOCAL ORGANISATION. (“Times-Age” Special.) After the meeting called by Lady Galway in Wellington for the purpose of forming the Lady Galway Patriotic Guild, a branch was formed in Featherston with the Mayoress (Miss H. Card) as chairwoman, and Mrs N. C. C. Shepherd as secretary. The executive comprises the presidents of the organisations in the district, namely, Featherston Red Cross branch (Mrs G. S. Sharp). Plunket and Tatiherenikau Guild (Mrs Q. Donald), W.D.F.U. Featherston (Mrs E. M. Wakely), Home and School Association. South Featherston (Mrs Arch. Clark); National Committee (Mrs D. H. S. Riddiford), Kahutara-Pihautea Red Cross branch (Mrs J. Carne Bidwill.). Women's Institute. Pihautea (Mrs L. McKenna). W.D.F.U.. Pihautea (Mrs W. A. Ross). Western Lake Guild (Mi's R. W. Matthews). The members have worked enthusiastically with their committees and are still co-operating with the result that so far 1153 articles have been forwarded to headquarters. The girls in the fourth and fifth standards of the local school held a shop day for the fund and raised £8 Ils 9d. The Red Cross Committee provides rooms where a sewing committee meets once a week. Four cases of goods, one of which was from the Tauherenikau group (per Mrs Q. Donald) were forwarded from the Featherston Lady Galway Guild to headquarters in Wellington yesterday. GOLF STABLEFORD COMPETITION. A Stableford competition was held on Saturday in conjunction with the first round of the senior and junior championships. The following were the best cards handed in; A. Hoby 25-12-37; R. Donald 26-8-34; A. White 22-11-33; W. Rowles 29-2-31; I. Donald 17-14-31; L. Benton 18-12-30. Personal. Mr A. Sutherland, secretary of the Wellington Automobile Association, was a weekend visitor to Featherston, being the guest of Mr N. C. C. Shepherd.
