Mrs Toko Te Maari is making favourable progress towards recovery after her severe operation. Mrs J. Cowan has returned from a visit to Feilding. Flag Staff at School. The local School Committee has decided immediately to erect a flag staff in the school grounds for the purpose of meeting the regulations recently issued of saluting the flag. Cheese Company. The annual general meeting of shareholders of the local cheese company is to be held this month. Gold and Green Ball. The Gold and Green Ball which is to be held in the Memorial Hall, Pirinoa, on Wednesday evening. The function is generally regarded as the outstanding social function of the year as far as this district is concerned. The committee has spared no effort to make the affair an outstanding success and needless to say their labours will no doubt be aipply rewarded. The crowning of the queen of the ball will again be a feature of the ball and in connection with the supper arrangements the ladies of the district are assisting. Three local soldiers who are on leave will be the guests of the committee, and during the evening will be given presentations from the local patriotic society. Members of His Majesty's Forces are to be admitted free. The net proceeds will be donated to the National Patriotic Fund.
